French Toast with fresh fruit. A super healthy breakfast, that fills very well as well. And you can of course vary with the topping.
A day later than I usually do, is this lovely breakfast recipe online. I am working on a lot of different things on the same time for my blog and that means planning. And I did that last week, but when I went to bed Thursday night I suddenly realized it was Friday the next day. And I had to write that blog. First I had to go to the gym yesterday morning afterwards I started working on my blog, but in the afternoon I had a meeting at a hotspot in Papendrecht. And Jens surprised me with a dinner in a restaurant and I won’t say no to that as well. So another lesson for me to schedule and plan a bit more.
One of the things I am currently working is the translation of my website. I see relatively many visitors from America and Brazil on my site. But they won’t understand a thing of my website because everything is in Dutch. Besides that Organic Happiness is an English name an to be able to reach out to even more people and to be able to inspire more people I decided to also make an English variant of my website. With the flag of your country you can define your preferred language. Besides that I am also working on optimizing the layout of the website.
I also want to tell you something about this recipe. When we were little we used to eat french toast in the holidays. My mum never worked on Tuesday and baked them for us. Of course we used white bread and covered them with a big layer of sugar. I really loved them as a kid! Suddenly I felt french toast cravings last week and made my own healthy version without added sugars and with brown bread.
Preparation time: 2 minutes Baking time: 4 minutes per piece of french toast Amount: 3 pieces of french toast (1 portion)
No refined sugars added
100% organic ingredients
7 grams cinnamon
10 grams honey
60 milliliters plant based milk
3 slices of brown bread*
* It doesn’t matter if the bread is a few days old.
How to make it?
Put the egg in a plate and whisk airy with a fork. Make sure all egg is whisked. Continue until you have a airy mixture. Add the cinnamon, honey and plant based milk to it and whisk again. Make sure all ingredients are properly mixed.
Grab a slice of bread and lay in this mixture. Make sure the bread sucks in the mixture. Turn around and also make sure the other side of the bread sucks in the mixture. The flavors will get in the bread. Heat a it of coconut oil or butter in a frying pan and lay the bread in the pan.
Bake the french toast for approximately 2 minutes on this side and flip. The edges should by crispy by now. Bake for another 2 minutes on the other side and do the same for the rest of the bread. If you add some more eggs, milk and cinnamon you can make even more french toast.
The french toast tastes delicious, but I decorated it with quark and fresh fruit to make it even better.
