No smoothie
Today not a smoothie, but another warm drink to start the Autumn with, because it slowly will become Autumn and Winter and I must admit that I am not ready for it. I am really a Summer kind of person and enjoyed this lovely Summer to the fullest. If it depends on me it would be 20-25 degrees Celsius all year long and I do see myself emigrate to a sunny country some day. But as long as I live in the Netherlands I do have cope with the seasons.
Autumn
I love nature in the Autumn, walking in the woods with all the colored leaves is lovely. And when the sun shines and it is cold I also like to have a walk, but I just can’t handle the rainy weather. The advantage of the Autumn and Winter is that you can warm yourself inside with food and drinks that you don’t eat or drink during the Summer.
Warm meals
I almost weekly eat a soup again for dinner, I start the day with a warm oatmeal porridge and drink a lot of ginger tea. All things that I didn’t eat or drank during the Summer. And of course there is also room for a hot chocolate. I used to love it a lot with a lot of whipped cream on top. Nowadays that doesn’t really make me happy anymore, although I sometimes do like it. But when I am at home and fancy a hot chocolate I like to make a healthy version. And this one is really good to make, it is not only healthy, but also very delicious. It really tastes like the chocolate milk I used to have as a kid.
Recipe: Vegan Hot Chocolate

Ingredients
200 milliliters oat milk*
3 grams cacao
2 grams maca powder (optional)
1 grams cinnamon powder
1 Medjool date
* By replacing the oat milk for another plant based milk you can make this recipe gluten free
How to make it?
Put the plant based milk in the blender and add the cacao, maca (optional) and cinnamon to it. Maca is not available everywhere so if you can’t find it that is not a problem. Remove the seed from the date and at last add the date. Mix all ingredients into a smooth mixture.
When the ingredients are mixed into a smooth mixture you can pour this mixture into a sauce pan. Warm slowly until the chocolate milk is nice and warm. Make sure it does not boil.
When the chocolate milk is nice and warm you can pour it into a glass or cup.
