Healthier cheese sandwiches, a healthy and easy alternative for the well-known cheese sandwich.
I love cheese sandwiches or actually melted cheese in general and thought it was time to make them myself. When I still worked at a lunch room, we got to pick our lunch. During the week I used to pick a big sandwich with cheese or chicken filet. But in the weekend I always grabbed a small sandwich with chicken filet and a spread and a cheese sandwich and I loved it! When I write about it my mouth is already watering.
This week I am in a bit of an unhealthy flow and don’t really get out of it yet. Tuesday night we went to the snackbar for fries, Wednesday we had the funeral of Jens’ grandmother. And after such an intense day you don’t feel like cooking and so we went for pizza. Homemade but still. And I actually enjoy that more than vegetables at the moment. And as icing on the cake my colleagues decided to order french fries for lunch yesterday. It really is time for me to workout, which is on the planning for this weekend!
Saturday morning I will start the day with a lesson in sweating at BBB (legs, butt, belly). And maybe I will enjoy one of these cheese sandwiches after working out. Since it is a lot healthier than the ones from the supermarket! But usually after working out I feel super healthy and end up with a porridge or yogurt with fresh fruit. Also delicious and actually quite nice to get back in that healthy flow. That is what I will be focusing on this weekend, while you can make these delicious cheese sandwiches.
Preheat the oven on 200 degrees Celsius (392 Fahrenheit). Lay 3 pieces of thawed puff pastry on top of each other and make sure they are straight on each other. Roll with a rolling pin into a long flat piece.
Repeat for the other pieces of puff pastry. Make sure you have 2 long pieces. If you prefer smaller cheese sandwiches, you can cut the dough in half.
It is time to cover the sandwiches. Cut the cheese and make sure it is approximately 1 centimeter in height, otherwise the sandwiches will get really flat.
I chose young cow cheese for the one sandwich and soft goat cheese for the other to have some variation in the sandwiches.
You can fill the sandwiches with the cheese that you prefer.
Fold the sandwiches and close the edges by using a fork. Make some air holes on top to prevent the sandwiches from exploding because of the heat.
Optionally you can put some grated cheese on top of the sandwiches.
You can bake them for 15 minutes in a preheated oven. Pay attention that the baking time may differ per oven.
Let the sandwiches cool down a bit, otherwise you will burn your mouth right away, Enjoy these sandwiches, also really tasty with some mustard.
I like it a lot if you make one of my recipes and I am very curious to see what you made and how you did it. That is why I like it also if you share it on Facebook or Instagram and tag Organic Happiness @organichappinessblog and/or use the hashtag #organichappiness
