Chocolate oatmeal porridge with banana. Chocolate in a breakfast makes a healthy breakfast even more festive if you ask me. This healthy breakfast is really easy to make and a comforting breakfast for the colder days.

December

Suddenly it is 1 December already, and that is quite a ‘thing’ for me. This is such a cliche but this year went by like crazy. I must also admit that I am not even thinking about this December month, but everything is getting there super soon, Christmas and Sinterklaas. And since I am a real homester who prefers to sit on the couch with Jens and Leyla you can imagine that this is not my favorite month.

Christmas

When 2 weeks ago at work we turned on the ‘The Christmas Station’ I liked the songs and when Jens said we had to visit a big shopping center for Christmas I became enthusiastic as well. Just spontaneously on a Thursday evening we were in the largest Christmas center of the Netherlands in Halsteren and I enjoy it so much! The lights, trains, houses I can watch it for hours and look forward to the days near the fire place with a hot chocolate. We went after work and also ate there which makes me even happier!

Obligations

If you follow me a bit longer you also know that I don’t like that obligations or obligations in general. If I ‘have’ to do something I just don’t want that and that includes the Holidays. I love being free of course, but for me the going to your parents and parents in law, have fun and dress properly is not really needed.

Christmas in jogging pants?

If it was up to me we all wear our jogging pants, watch a Christmas movie and eat nachos haha. Every year I am fighting against it for myself nd it never changes so I’ll just have to accept it once haha. I do like the extra free days during this period near the warm fire place with a hot chocolate and of course a warm breakfast. Like this lovely warm breakfast with chocolate and banana, what else could you wish for?!

Ingredients

600 millilitres almond milk*
100 grams muesli/granola**
7 grams cacao
25 grams extra dark chocolate (min.72% cacao)
1 banana

* To make this recipe nut free you can use another kind of plant based drink
** You can use homemade granola or muesli

How to make it?

First put the almond milk in a saucepan together with the muesli/granola/oatmeal and warm on low heat fire. When the porridge is warm you can put it in a bowl and divide some cacao over it. Chop the chocolate and divide those pieces over the porridge as well. At last peel the banana, cut into slices and use half a banana per bowl.

Divide the slices over the bowl, stir and enjoy this delicious, healthy and warm breakfast.
