Gluten free chocolate breakfast waffles. These waffles are super quick and easy to make. You can also freeze them which is perfect when you have limited time.
Waffles, I like them, but don’t always think about making them. Usually pancakes pop into my mind much quicker. Which is funny actually because waffles are just as tasty and even quicker to make as well. A while ago I was watching a vlog and someone started baking waffles and i felt like making them as well.
My parents came back from their holiday and brought me a cup and plate that I could perfectly use as a background. I didn’t know what to do with it quite yet, but they were perfect for these waffles.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Baking time: Approximately 5 minutes per waffle
Amount: 4 waffles
- Mixing bowl
- Waffle iron
- 200 grams buckwheat flour
- 5 grams baking soda
- 50 milliliters honey
- 1 egg
- 200 milliliters plant based milk
- 35 grams extra dark chocolate*
- Coconut oil to grease
*Can be replaced by lactose free chocolate to make the recipe lactose free.
How to make it?
Put the buckwheat flour in a mixing bowl and add the baking soda, honey, egg and plant based milk to it.
Mix with a whisk into a smooth batter. In the meantime warm the waffle iron and put on a medium setting.
Chop the chocolate as small as you like. You can also use lactose free/vegan chocolate which will make this recipe lactose free.
When you have chopped the chocolate you can add it to the batter. Mix through and make sure it is well divided through the entire batter. It will be a bit difficult because the batter is very sticky.
When the waffle iron is warm you can grease it with coconut oil. Make sure the top and the bottom are greased properly.
Use approximately 1 full table spoon per side/waffle. Bake them until they are brown, they will be more easy to let go as well. This takes approximately 5 minutes depending on the waffle iron of course.
Let them cool down and optionally decorate them with some extra chocolate. You can now enjoy these delicious chocolate waffles!
